Batang Gilas Finished Strong Against Qatar 82-79

The Batang Gilas dominates as they win against the host team Qatar in the nail biting game last August 22, 2014.The Philippine team finished the game in a score of 82-79. This is their second win in FIBA Asia U18 Championship.

The Qatar team start strong in the first quarter with the lead of 3 points. The host team use their height and speed to take advantage against the Philippine team. But the Gilas show more than the host team did. 

In 7:43 left in the game in the 4th quarter the Gilas is ahead by 15 points but the Qatar team had their 11-26 run that puts the game in only 3 points lead by the away team Gilas 79-76. Kobe Paras son of Benjie Paras had his good steal then Desiderio had a free throw that put an icing on the cake and Gilas win a hard fought game 82-79 in 2nd round of FIBA Asia U18 Championship.

Abdulrahman Mohamed Saad of Qatar had an outstanding performance with 35 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and 5 assist.

The Batang Gilas will be facing the Chinese team on August 23, 2014.

Qatar 79: Saad 35, Abdelhaleem 15, Alyousif 13, Abed 8, Alshawaqfeh 3, Aql 2.
