Puerto Rico Defeats Philippines 77-73

The Gilas Pilipinas was defeated by the Puerto Rican team who ranked no. 17 in the world by FIBA. A heart breaking loss was made the Filipino fans feel sad and cry.

Despite of these we can’t argue anyone in the Gilas team; they did all they can, but unluckily the Puerto Rican team finished strong.

In the First quarter the team Gilas was too strong for the Puerto Rican team and ends the first quarter with 25-13 lead. Tenorio who scored 11 points in the first quarter leads his team.

In the second half the team Gilas was weakening they produced a lot of turn over’s that cause Puerto Rican team to slowly come back into the game. The 2nd quarter ends in a 45-40 lead by the Philippines.

In the 2nd half the Puerto Rican team looks unstable with their 3 point shots from Suarez, manage to hang in the game and ends the third quarter with their lead  65-57.

In 4th quarter JJ. Barea was the hero of Puerto Rico, he tied the game with his 3 point shot and his two free throw points puts them into a 2 point lead. The Gilas was still trying to comeback but i saw that no one in the Philippine players wants to take a shot. Maybe bothered by the defense but the heart of the Philippines was gone in the 4th quarter. The final score 77-73 win by the Puerto Rico.
