RESULTS: Pinoy Pride 31 - Nietes vs Rodriguez

These are the results of Pinoy Pride 31, Happening at Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Barangay Lahug, July 11, 2015.

In the main event Donnie Nietes will try of defend his title against a tough challenger Francisco Rodriguez Jr. of Mexico.

- Donnie Nietes won via UD against Francisco Rodriguez Jr of Mexico.

Good fight happened in the Main Event. The current and the only Filipino world boxing champion today faces the younger and the 2 time former world champion from Mexico Francisco Rodriguez jr.

Francisco starts to be the active man in the match but Nietes who is the most accurate at that time became more aggressive in the later round. Starting at round 4 Nietes become the aggressor and trying to pick his game, Nietes connects a good uppercut and hooks that makes Rodriguez Jr. uncomfortable.

5th round, Rodriguez's face starts swelling from the counter punches of Nietes.

In the 6th round Nietes totally controlling the fight. He was confident and the Mexican opponent became more cautious on his punches.

Round 8th: Nietes dominating in the round and lands powerful punches, Rodriguez still fighting back but nothings connect.

Round 9: Nietes still dominating and connects a lot of counter punches. Rodriguez seems frustrated.

10th round: Donnie continues to become the dominant in this fight. He delivered powerful shots and I think he can KO Rodriguez if he continues.

12th round is the important round for Rodriguez Jr., he needs a KO to win the fight.

The Judges scores 115-113, 119-109 and 118-110 all for Donnie "Ahas" Nietes.

Nietes proved to be one of the great boxer in the Philippines after out boxing the former world champion Rodriguez.

Nietes still the champion and I think he is the best match for Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua.
