Pinoy Pride 40: Nietes to face Nantapech for the vacant IBF Belt

Donnie Nietes is set to face the top Thailander boxer Komgrich Nantapech on April 29, 2017, in Cebu.

The fight was ordered by the IBF for the vacant IBF flyweight belt.

Donnie Nietes is the Mandatory challenger for the WBO title against Zou Shiming but chooses to fight the Thailander for the vacant IBF title.

Nietes has never been defeated since  2004 and he is one of the most successful boxers in the Philippines.

Nietes dropped his WBO light flyweight title and moved to the flyweight where he could possibly fight Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada, but both former champions were moved up in the super flyweight division.

The 34 years old Filipino is currently the no. 1 fighter in the Flyweight division and we know that he will be a champion not too soon.

On the other hand, Komgrich Nantapech of Thailand is a 27 years old boxer with the record consisting of 22 wins including 15 victories by way of KO and has only 3 defeats.

Nantapech started his career in 2011 and only defeated by Albert Pagara, Sho Ishida, and Froilan Saludar.

This fight will be Nantapech's first big fight, he never fought someone like in a caliber of Nietes.

The Thailander defeated the Filipino Jeny Boy Buca in his last fight via 6th round KO.
