Marlon Tapales Ready to defend his title on Sunday April 23rd

Current WBO world bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales of Lanao del Norte, Philippines is scheduled to defend his title against the former opponent Shohei Omori of Japan.

Tapales who defeated Punluang Sor Singyu in Thailand via KO for the WBO World bantamweight title is now set to defend his title for the first time.

“I’m weighing 122, 123 and sometimes 125 but I’m not bothered because I trained hard everyday. I still have seven days to shed off some weight and I’m sure I can make it during the weigh-in without any problem,” Tapales told The Manila Times on Sunday.

“I’m ready to defend my title. So far so good, I’m in good fighting condition but I believe I’ll be stronger and faster during the fight,” he added.

Omori who had been knocked out by Tapales in 2015 in now coming back with his 3 straight KO's including the fight against Rocky Fuentes in 2016.

Tapales vs Shohei Omori will be held at EDION Arena Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan on April 23, 2017.
